Argyle Culture By Russell Simmons

By: Errol Mars

After achieving great success with his clothing label Phat Farm and Baby Phat, Russell Simmons has decided to give the fashion business another try with his new line Russell Simmons Argyle Culture.

The Argyle Culture line will targets successful men 25 and over, will combine original urban concepts with the buttoned-up styling of men's professional attire.

Mr. Simmons said Argyle Culture represented a natural succession in his clothing-related businesses.

"After nearly 20 years in the young men's business I have always intended to design sophisticated men's wear for the urban graduate," said Mr. Simmons, who has teamed up with GQ for the Spring 2008 Argyle Culture publicity campaign.

Simmons sold his Phat Fashions and all of its brands and licenses to Kellwood in 2004 for $140 million. Following the sale, Simmons held the title of CEO of Phat Fashions, while also developing his own businesses in the jewelry, fragrance, personal health and entertainment industries.
