Jay Z opens second 40/40 Club

The 40/40 Club in Atlantic City opened it’s doors on October 25, 2005. Construction began on the $4 million, 15,000 square foot 40/40 Club co-owned by rappreneur Jay Z on June 1, 2005 .
The multi-level upscale sports bar and lounge, located at 2120 Atlantic Avenue at The Walk (in front of Caesars Hotel and Casino) will feature more than 30 TV’s and many VIP rooms that fans of the 40/40 club have become accustom to in New York. The space will also be home to a cigar lounge and retail shop that will feature 40/40 Club clothing and accessories.
“ Atlantic City is the second stop on our 40/40 club world tour.” said Desiree Gonzalez. “We are very excited to be a part of this growing community and the new Atlantic City expansion project."
The 40/40 name refers to the exclusive and rarefied air of baseball players who hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a season. Only three players belong to the club: Alex Rodriguez, Jose Canseco and Barry Bonds.
Jay-Z said he put off offers to open in Los Angeles and Las Vegas first because of his ties to Atlantic City and New Jersey.
"My main concern now is Atlantic City. I wanted to be part of the building up of Atlantic City," he said.
The partners plan to open 40/40 Clubs in Los Angeles in 2006, Las Vegas in 2007 and Singapore in 2008.
