The Sean John apparel company is reportedly close to a deal to hire a veteran of the Calvin Klein and Donna Karan fashion houses to head its foray into women's clothing.
Sean John is in the final stages of negotiations with Susan Sokol, a former executive with Calvin Klein and Donna Karan.
Sean John has annual retail sales in excess of $450 million.
A $100 million investment from California billionaire Ron Burkle is helping to finance the rapid roll-out of Sean John retail boutiques.
Combs signed a deal last month with the Estee Lauder Cos. to produce a men's fragrance.
Sean John has been expanding it fashion business at a rapid pace and plans to launch a womens line next year.
